Breakfast Buddies

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Not only does it include my favorite drink, coffee, but it also includes warm biscuits, fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, fried eggs, salty hash browns, cheese grits, golden waffles, fresh fruit... whew, I am out of breath. I just love breakfast food, and The Local Yolkal Cafe serves it all!

My friend Abigail and I met for breakfast at The Local Yolkal Cafe in Milledgeville, Georgia, and man were we happy. They have so many options to choose from and everything is served smoking hot. "The most popular meals are the Western omelet, any of the eggs benedict and the capital breakfast," said waitress Kelsey Wright. The capital breakfast includes 3 eggs cooked to order, 2 pancakes, choice of grits or hash browns, choice of bacon or sausage and a choice of toast or biscuit.

This meal is delicious! The pancakes are dense and sweet. The dark chocolate chips are perfect because they don't overpower the flavor of the pancakes, and the bacon serves as a pallet cleanser. Take a bite of bacon when switching from pancakes to grits. It's a great salty and sweet combo. Each bite of cheese grits is a taste of cheddar heaven. The cheese grits are stringy, rich and melt in your mouth.

Y'all know I love spicy food and sauces, so I top my eggs with Tabasco pepper sauce. Some people would frown at this gesture, but if you don't mind a little kick, you should try this combination.

Another local favorite are the chicken and waffles. I know this sounds like a weird pair, but I promise it is worth trying. The fluffy soft waffle and crispy salty chicken is not only savory but sweet. Click here to learn the origin of chicken and waffles.

It doesn't matter if you are craving breakfast or lunch. The Local Yolkal Cafe has it all. "The service is always good," said customer James Tucker. "They have the best breakfast in town."
